Subject: Dave Ward's back surgery
The final hurdle is out of the way.  I will finally have surgery for my ruptured back disc on August 10 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.  I was supposed to have had the surgery on July 6, but during the pre-op a few days before, the hospital folks decided I had to have clearance from a cardiologist before the surgery could take place.  I have long had a minor irregular heartbeat (hereditary, and it didn't stop my father from living to 88).  Got that handled last week ("Take an aspirin a day", so said the cardiologist).  Will definitely miss the Chapter J Watermelon Feed in Guthrie on August 14 and the Chapter P Anniversary in Claremore on the 15th.  The Chapter G 9/11 campout in September is doubtful.  The district GWRRA rally Oct. 7-9 is a maybe.  I'd been doing pretty well of late, still sore but able to function with some degree of normalcy.  Very sore today: on pain meds for first time in a week.  I'm so ready to get this over with!
